Chubb Life Hong Kong first to launch dementia insurance plan
The policy targets rising elderly care and caregiver support demand.
Chubb Life Hong Kong has introduced the Side by Side Dementia Insurance Plan, a standalone policy in Hong Kong designed to provide financial and emotional support for dementia patients and caregivers.
The plan offers benefits upon initial diagnosis of both moderate and severe dementia, alongside continuing monthly payouts after a severe diagnosis. It also includes complimentary cognitive assessments, a premium waiver, and a Caregiver Support Benefit reimbursing counselling expenses.
In a press release, the company mentioned that the plan is a response to Hong Kong’s ageing demographics, with one in three residents expected to be aged 65 or above by 2046. Dementia cases are also projected to exceed 390,000 by 2045.
The plan expands Chubb Life’s Silver Life product series, targeting the growing silver-age market segment.
Belinda Au, President of Chubb Life Hong Kong and Head of North Asia, said the product combines financial coverage with caregiver support, reflecting the insurer’s strategy to address evolving long-term care needs across the region.
