Markel promotes Ben House as energy, power director as firm merges energy teams

House oversee the firm’s power portfolio and energy team.

Markel Insurance announced the promotion of Ben House to director of energy and power, effective immediately.

In his new role, House will oversee Markel's renewable energy and power portfolio across the organisation's international division, alongside his existing responsibilities as head of Markel's upstream, midstream and downstream energy team, the firm said in a release.

The director will also manage an integrated group of underwriters, analysts, and risk engineers to foster customer relationships and optimise underwriting processes, it added.

House’s appointment comes as Markel's Energy teams converge to support energy clients throughout the entire value chain, from production and transportation to processing, generation and distribution.

House is based in London and will report to Rohan Davies, managing director, London.

In 2018, he was promoted as the firm’s head of upstream before progressing to director of energy in 2023.

The firm is the insurance operation within Markel Group Inc.
