Cambodia’s insurance market lifts sum insured to $9.07b in July

Cambodia’s insurance market saw mixed results in July 2025, with premiums falling but growth in policies, sums insured, and claims.
Gross premiums dropped by 4.42% compared to July 2024, down to $32.09m from $33.57m.
General insurance premiums fell 7.77% to $13.06m, whilst life insurance premiums slipped 1.98% to $19.03m.
Despite the lower premiums, the number of policies surged sharply. Total policies rose to 461,441, a 340.99% increase from 104,638 the year before.
General insurance policies grew by 200.29% to 65,848, whilst life insurance policies jumped 378.29% to 395,593.
The total sum insured increased by 45.23% year-on-year, reaching $9.07b.
General insurance contributed $7.26b, up 55.15%, whilst life insurance reached $1.81b, up 15.64%.
Gross claims incurred also went up overall by 21.47% to $7.55m.
General insurance claims rose 68.88% to $5.68m, but life insurance claims dropped 34.46% to $1.87m.
