AXA XL appoints new CUO for APAC, Europe

She has extensive experience as an environmental liability underwriter.

AXA XL Insurance has announced the appointment of Adias Gerbaud as the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for APAC & Europe and XL Insurance Company SE (XLICSE), pending regulatory approvals.

In her new role, Gerbaud will be responsible for shaping core underwriting strategies, enhancing product offerings, and driving profitability for AXA XL in Europe, Asia, and Australia. 

She succeeds Etienne Champion, who is set to assume a new position at AXA Group as the P&C commercial lines group Chief Underwriting Officer.

Gerbaud has been with AXA XL since 2007, serving most recently as the Chief Operating Officer for APAC & Europe and XLICSE. 

She brings extensive experience to the role, having spent 12 years as an environmental liability underwriter in various senior, regional, and international capacities, including roles such as underwriting manager for environmental in Southern Europe & Latin America, and later as head of international environmental.
