Insurance Development Forum launches open tools for climate risk understanding

IDF RMSG has also published a series of Parametric Insurance Case Studies.

The Insurance Development Forum (IDF) Risk Modelling Steering Group (RMSG) has launched a new web page offering free, open-access risk modelling tools aimed at improving global understanding and quantification of climate and disaster risks.

These tools address the growing demand from both the private sector and vulnerable nations for accessible risk data.

Alongside the tools, the IDF RMSG has also published a series of Parametric Insurance Case Studies.

Featured cases include drought protection for hydropower in South Africa and rapid disaster response for the Mesoamerican Reef, showcasing how innovative insurance structures are safeguarding infrastructure, economies, and communities.

The tools were developed with funding from IDF insurance industry members including AIG, Aon, AXA, Convex Insurance, Guy Carpenter, Howden, RenaissanceRe, SCOR, and WTW.

Development partners include Oasis and Maximum Information.
