Honan names Asia CEO
He will be based in Singapore.
Honan Insurance Group (Honan) has announced the appointment of Julian Coates to the newly created position of CEO for Asia. Based out of Singapore, Julian will work closely alongside Managing Director Eliza White to lead Honan’s growth in Asia.
Coates brings over fifteen years of insurance industry experience to Honan, having worked across diverse sectors such as energy and mining, industrial property, and general insurance. He also brings significant international experience having worked in Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and the Middle East. Julian previously held senior leadership roles at Lockton Companies and Miller Insurance Services.
In his new role, Coates will work in partnership with White to lead Honan’s Asia business across general insurance, employee benefits, wholesale, and reinsurance businesses.

Honan expanded into Asia in 2015 and currently has offices in Singapore and Malaysia, servicing South-East Asia. In the last four years, Honan’s Asia business has achieved a compounded annual growth of 27%. Honan’s growth in Asia has been primarily driven by success in general insurance and its employee benefits (EB) offering.
Founded in 1964, and headquartered in Melbourne, Honan is disrupting the traditional broker model. The business has grown to over 350 employees, with revenue exceeding $100m. From offices in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia, and through exclusive access to independent insurance and risk advisors via the Worldwide Broker Network, Honan partners with diverse organisations from global and ASX 100 corporations, to property managers, NFPs, start-ups, and sole traders.
