Indonesia sees abundant reinsurance capacity from domestic, overseas insurers: Gallagher Re

Reinsurance capacity in Indonesia remained abundant, supported by both domestic and overseas reinsurers, according to a report by Gallagher Re.
Accounts that were free of catastrophe losses in 2023 and 2024 saw risk-adjusted rate reductions, it noted.
Proportional capacity from local reinsurers increased as securing facultative placements became more challenging.
Meanwhile, overseas reinsurers had a stronger preference for providing excess of loss capacity but selectively supported proportional arrangements when buyers showed robust technical capabilities and sufficient portfolio management expertise, the report added.
