
Manulife Asia’s Q1 net income surges 57% YoY to $435m
Globally, its Q1 2025 earnings contracted by 47% YoY.
Manulife Financial Corporation’s first quarter (Q1 2025) net income attributable to shareholders in its Asia segment surged 57% year-on-year (YoY) to $435m.
The region’s core earnings also increased by 7% YoY to $492m. Annual premium equivalent sales, likewise, shot up 50% YoY to $1.4b.
New business value during the period also climbed 43% YoY to $457m.
Globally, it’s Q1 2025 earnings contracted by 47% YoY to $485m.
“2025 has got off to a strong start for Manulife in Asia. Building on last year’s momentum, the Asia segment achieved record levels across all value metrics in the first quarter, including annualised premium equivalent, new business value, and new business contractual service margin,” Phil Witherington, President and CEO of Manulife Asia, said in a press release.
