Markel names ex-Swiss Re head of casualty as its Asia chief of underwriting

Kevin Leung was head of casualty and financial lines for APAC at Swiss Re.

Markel has appointed Kevin Leung as chief underwriting officer for its Asia Pacific operations.

Leung is tasked with leading the underwriting strategy for the region to generate profitable growth, enhance technical capabilities and help to strengthen Markel's presence and continued growth in the region. 

Leung reports to Christian Stobbs, managing director of Markel’s International division in Asia Pacific. He will be based in Singapore.

He has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, Markel said.

Most recently, Leung was head of casualty and financial lines for APAC at Swiss Re, where he held various leadership roles. 

Prior to that, Leung held senior underwriting positions at several insurance carriers including Catlin, ACE Group and AIG.
