POP Group Holdings names new CIO
His expertise in insurance and the overall financial industry is said to drive POP's digital transformation and innovation efforts in the insurance market.
Pop Group Holdings (POP), an investor in M&A and technology-enabled insurance businesses, has appointed Shannon Murphy as Group Chief Information Officer (CIO).
In his role as Group CIO, Murphy will oversee POP's digital strategy, including technology operations, information security, engineering, and service management for its global brands, Fusion Specialty and io.insure.
Murphy will lead the development and execution of POP's digital strategy, encompassing various aspects of technology and innovation. His role will span across POP's global brands, with a focus on the io.insure platform, which is described as the world's first M&A and specialty insurance online marketplace under POP.
Murphy will also oversee the expansion of Mio, a next-generation product and service offering that recently launched in New Zealand and is set to expand to other countries later this year and in 2024.

Murphy brings three decades of experience in technology roles within the insurance industry, having served as CTO for large insurers such as ING, AIG, and AXIS in the Asia Pacific region.
Prior to joining POP, Murphy served as the Head of Technology at Amazon Web Services, where he developed cloud strategies for Singapore enterprises.
He also held the position of Chief Technology Officer at fintech firm MoneyHero Group, focusing on security practices and digital transformation initiatives in the Greater Southeast Asia region.
His role will be based in Singapore.
