Regional disaster insurance pools sign $5.4m collaboration agreement
The grant will be used to build a joint learning network.
Four regional disaster risk insurance pools have signed a $5.4m (€4.7m) grant agreement with the Global Shield Solutions Platform (GSSP) to strengthen collaboration and advance disaster risk financing solutions.
The agreement was signed in Frankfurt in April 2025 by the Southeast Asia Disaster Risk Insurance Facility (SEADRIF), African Risk Capacity Limited (ARC Ltd.), the Caribbean and Central American-focused CCRIF SPC, and the Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC).
The funding, provided under GSRRP, will support the implementation of a joint action plan outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the four pools in 2022.
The grant will be used to build a joint learning network, set up a global facility for risk data and analytics sharing, establish an employee exchange programme, and expand joint advocacy.
The joint programme also aims to enhance the ability of participating regions to respond to climate shocks and natural disasters through better risk retention strategies, and knowledge exchange.
