UAE mandates employer-paid health insurance to foreigners

This requirement has already been enacted in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The United Arab Emirates Cabinet recently announced that beginning in 2025, private-sector companies must provide health insurance for their non-national employees, extending a requirement already in place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to the other five emirates, as reported by WTW.

Details of the mandate, such as benefits and eligibility, will be outlined in future regulations. This move aims to enhance health coverage and is expected to bolster the insurance market.

Whilst most companies already offer healthcare benefits to employees and dependents, employers should stay informed and assess coverage for employees in the other emirates.
