Zurich Insurance appoints Shao to lead claims strategy across Asia

Shao returns to Zurich from AXA XL.

Zurich Insurance Group has appointed Megan Shao as Chief Claims Officer for Asia Pacific, effective 1 February 2026.

Shao returns to Zurich from AXA XL, where she was Head of Claims, Asia. 

She has more than 17 years of experience in claims management, including her previous role at Zurich as head of Financial Lines and Casualty Claims for Asia Pacific.

In her new position, Shao will oversee Zurich’s claims operations across the region.

She will report to Sean Walker, Head of Commercial Insurance and Chief Technical Officer for Asia Pacific, and will be based in Singapore.

Shao is fluent in English, Mandarin and Taiwanese, Shao is known for her focus on developing talent and enhancing customer relationships. 

She holds a law degree from Boston University and an undergraduate degree from Chinese Culture University in Taipei.
