AIA Hong Kong rolls out COVID mobile alert app

Both AIA and non-AIA clients can receive information on cases across the city.

AIA Hong Kong has launched a COVID-19 mobile alert service, according to a news release.

The AIA Connect app combines the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer’s application programming interface (API) data as well as GPS and geo-fencing technologies.

Both AIA and non-AIA clients can receive the latest information about COVID-19 cases in different districts across the city. They will immediately be notified once they are within around 200 metres of buildings with probable or confirmed cases.

Users can choose to view details such as case number, gender and age for each listed case. They can also opt to turn on or off alert functions for specific locations.
