Hong Kong's OneDegree eases microchip requirement for cats

Cats are not legally required to have microchips in the city.

Hong Kong virtual insurer OneDegree has allowed cats without microchips to enroll in its Pawfect Care insurance plan, according to an announcement.

Whilst cats are not legally required to have microchips, the mandatory microchip requirement for pet insurance policies is a hindrance for some cat owners, the insurer said.

The number of Pawfect Care policies issued in July jumped 85% MoM, OneDegree said, and the company expects this pick-up in growth to continue as awareness of pet insurance improves.
