Gallagher Australia swoops former Marsh ESG leader

She will oversee climate change-related risks and consulting.

Sophie Griffin has been recruited by Gallagher Australia as its new head of climate and sustainability to oversee clients in mitigating and adapting to climate change risks while helping them achieve their sustainability objectives.

With almost two decades of experience in structural engineering and risk engineering consulting, Griffin brings a wealth of expertise to her new position. 

She began her career in engineering design, specializing in earthquake, wind, and flood engineering.

In the past 15 years, she has made significant contributions to the insurance industry, focusing on assisting clients and their stakeholders in understanding natural catastrophes, climate change, and sustainability (ESG) risk exposures.

Her experience with Marsh & McLennan, Marsh spanned more than 10 years. Griffin also worked with WTW as a catastrophe risk consultant for a year.
