Insurance regulator warns public of fake insurer Facebook page

The page is imitating the insurer Blue Insurance.

The Insurance Authority of Hong Kong is warning the public of a fake social media page imitating an authorised Hong Kong insurer.

The Facebook page named Blue Insurance Hong Kong is imitating Blue Insurance Limited (Blue Insurance). The insurer has confirmed with the IA that it has no connection with the unauthorized social media platform.

“The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the aforesaid social media platform or has conducted any insurance transactions through the social media platform should call Blue Insurance Customer Services Hotline at 3929-3929, and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force,” the IA said.

In Hong Kong, any company carrying on insurance business in or from Hong Kong must be authorized by the IA under the Insurance Ordinance.
