Manulife Asia names Phil Witherington as new CEO

Phil Witherington is named as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Manulife Asia.

Manulife announced leadership changes to boost Asia's growth and global financial performance.

The insurer has appointed Phil Witherington as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Manulife Asia starting 1 July. Witherington was previously the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Further, he will be reporting to Roy Gori, President and CEO of the group.

Witherington replaces Damien Green, who will now chair Manulife Financial Asia Ltd. (MFAL).

Prior to becoming CFO in 2017, he served as CFO of Manulife Asia. With a background at HSBC as the Asia Pacific head of finance for retail banking and wealth management, as well as finance roles at AIA and KPMG, Witherington brings extensive experience in the financial services sector, Manulife said.
