Marsh McLennan names new Mercer president

In the meantime, Martine Ferland will remain CEO until her retirement next year.

Marsh McLennan has named Pat Tomlinson as the new President of Mercer, a division of Marsh McLennan. 

Martine Ferland, the current chief executive officer (CEO), will remain in her role until her retirement on 31 March 2024, during which she will continue to oversee Mercer's regional leaders.

In his role as President, Tomlinson will report to Ferland and will be responsible for managing Mercer's Global Health, Wealth, and Career practices.

In the short term, he will continue to serve as the CEO for Marsh McLennan in the US and Canada, as well as the President for Mercer in the US and Canada. 

After Ferland's retirement, Tomlinson will assume the positions of President and CEO of Mercer, as well as Vice Chair of Marsh McLennan. 

He will also join Marsh McLennan's Executive Committee and report to John Doyle, the President and CEO of Marsh McLennan.
