Prudential launches new critical illness cover

The plan provides HK$100 protection for every HK$1 premiums

Prudential Hong Kong Limited has launched EasyWell Critical Illness Protector, its newest  flexible whole life critical illness protection solution that provides financial protection for customers against the most common critical illnesses at affordable premiums with up to HK$100 worth of protection for every HK$1 premium.

By paying an affordable premium over a limited period, the insured will be protected by the whole life protection of EasyWell Critical Illness Protector against 56 major disease conditions including but not limited to cancer, heart attack or stroke. If the life assured is diagnosed with one of these major disease conditions covered, they will be paid a lump-sum of 100% of the current sum assured and a non-guaranteed one-off Terminal Bonus (on or after the 5th policy anniversary) as a Major Disease Benefit.

Additionally, the plan also offers a Benefit Protector Option to combat inflation with additional premiums, which automatically increases protection by 5% of the initial sum assured every year, up to 200% of the initial sum assured. Besides comprehensive critical illness protections, customers can add more cover under the EasyWell Supplementary Benefit Series at an affordable premium. The supplementary benefits include EasyWell Severe Cancer Care which enhances protection against Severe Cancer (i.e. Stage 3 or 4 Cancer) with a lump-sum cover; and EasyWell Critical Illness MultiCare which provides multi-coverage against cancer, heart attack and stroke. In addition, customers can enhance life and critical illness, medical expenses, disability and accidents protection by paying extra premiums.

The EasyWell Critical Illness protector also offers two unique services which is the Treatment Sure and the SmartAppoint Service.

Treatment Sure provides personalised second medical opinions from a network of over 50,000 global medical experts covering over 450 specialities, as well as overseas treatment arrangements ranging from specialist options, booking appointments and translation services to post-treatment guidance.

Meanwhile the SmartAppoint Service enables policyholders to appoint a designated family member in advance to help file a claim and access the claim payment on their behalf in the event of being mentally incapacitated due to sicknesses or unforeseen circumstances. This service provides immediate financial relief when it matters the most for the family.

According to government statistics, critical illnesses such as cancer, heart diseases and cerebrovascular diseases were the leading causes of death in Hong Kong in 2020, where the early onset of these critical illnesses is on the rise. In Hong Kong, the cancer incident rate for the age group of 20 to 44 has increased by 14% between 2010 and 2019.

This newest product is aimed at young consumers as well as young families, to provide them with an add-on extra protection options at low costs.

According to Priscilla Ng, chief marketing and partnership distribution officer of Prudential, the pursuit of health and wellness has been a trend for today’s society.

“The newly launched EasyWell Critical Illness Protector offers an essential whole life critical illness protection at an affordable premium, allowing customers to strengthen their protection net by tailor-making their own plans with greater flexibility and in accordance to their protection needs and budget at different life stages,” Ng said.
