Taiwan’s non-life insurance suffers 537.1% loss in August

This is the fifth consecutive month of loss for the insurance industry.

Taiwan’s non-life insurance industry recorded a pre-tax profit decrease of 537.1%, a total of $2.40b loss in August 2022.

The pre-tax profit of life insurance enterprises was $8.29b, a decrease of 21.9% compared to last year.

Owners' equity of insurance enterprises at the end of August 2022 was $45.83b. Owners' equity of life insurance enterprises was $42.87b, a 49.2% decrease compared to last year, whilst owners' equity of non-life insurance enterprises was $2.96b, going down by 38.8%.

This is the fifth month of losses for the insurance industry. In July, the general insurance industry's pre-tax profit recorded a  drop of 466.7%.
