Ant Insurance processes 7.25 million health claims in 2024

Its AI-powered solution also processed 1.62 million claims last year.

Ant Insurance, the online insurance brokerage platform under Ant Group, facilitated 7.25 million health claims in China in 2024, marking a 55% year-on-year increase. Total health claim payouts through the platform reached $1.3b.  

The surge in claims was driven by expanding product offerings, improved user experience, and growing demand for health insurance services in China. 

According to the National Health Commission, over 400 million people in China, or more than 30% of the population, are projected to be aged 60 or older by 2035, amplifying demand for commercial health insurance as a complement to the country's basic medical system.  

In 2024, Ant Insurance deployed its AI-powered EasyClaims solution, processing 1.62 million claims analysis requests for over 85 health insurance products. 

The AI handled 96% of the requests, enabling faster and more efficient claims processing for its 11 partner insurers. 

Ant Group further expanded its capabilities with the launch of Ant Bridge in September 2024. The platform integrates AI models and financial intelligence to help insurers deliver real-time and tailored customer service, enhancing operational efficiency.  

Beyond insurance, Ant Group has been involved in digital healthcare services since 2014 through its Alipay platform. 

It has facilitated hospital appointment bookings and other medical services for over 800 million users across 3,600 hospitals as of January 2025. 

In September 2024, the group introduced an AI Healthcare Manager on Alipay, providing users with services such as doctor mapping, medical report interpretation, and personalised medical advice.
