Howden steps foot into Japan market with reinsurance firm

Kentaro Tada has been appointed CEO of Japan.

Global insurance intermediary group, Howden, has announced its entry into the Japanese market with the launch of Howden Re Japan and a partnership with Keystone ILS Capital.

Kentaro Tada has been appointed CEO of Howden Japan. Tada, who has held senior roles at Rakuten General Insurance Company, Guy Carpenter Japan, and SBI SSI Holdings, will oversee Howden’s strategic growth in Japan.

Howden Re Japan will offer reinsurance brokerage services and strategic advice using data, analytics, and capital markets expertise.

The company has also invested in Keystone, a Japanese insurance-linked securities (ILS) firm, to enhance its services. The demand for ILS services has surged due to increased natural disasters and the need to diversify capital sources.
