Ping An Insurance unveils first mangrove conservation trust

It received an initial donation of RMB10m.

Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China has established the Ping An Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation Charitable Trust, marking China's first charitable trust dedicated to the conservation of mangrove ecology. 

The trust focuses on protecting biodiversity, promoting ecological conservation, and supporting sustainable development. 

It was initiated with a RMB10m donation from the Shenzhen Ping An Public Welfare Foundation, with Ping An Trust serving as the trustee, and the Shenzhen Mangrove Wetlands Conservation Foundation as the charitable project manager.

The trust is perpetual and will provide funding for initiatives such as mangrove ecosystem protection and restoration, waterbird ecological corridor construction, and science education.

Ping An aims to promote international dialogue and the sharing of best practices for mangrove ecological conservation through collaboration with the Mangrove Foundation and other societal entities.
