PolicyStreet, foodpanda Malaysia crank up rider protection

This comes as an addition to their on-the-job insurance plans, which offers 24-hour accident coverage.

Insurtech PolicyStreet and foodpanda Malaysia has partnered to bolster the coverage of its delivery partners, enabling a safer and ensured working environment.

To commemorate Rider’s Appreciation Day, foodpanda Malaysia tapped PolicyStreet to unveil foodpanda Protect+. This new offering provides 24-hour, worldwide accident coverage for delivery riders and their families.

This comes on top of their on-the-job insurance coverage introduced in 2020 for all foodpanda delivery partners, they

The foodpanda Protect+ individual plan is currently the most cost-effective and comprehensive coverage available in the market.

It starts at just RM3 per month or RM0.10 per day and includes protection against permanent disability, accidental death, funeral expenses, hospital income compensation, and Rider Support Benefits (Family Care+) during hospitalisation.

Delivery partners can also opt to extend coverage to their spouses and up to two children with the family plan, priced at RM6 per month, plus RM1 for each additional child.

Single delivery partners can also include their parents in the family plan at the same rate.

The goal of foodpanda Protect+ is to promote financial security and inclusivity among delivery partners. It builds upon the existing protection offered by foodpanda Malaysia and PolicyStreet, ensuring comprehensive coverage, not only for accidental death or permanent disability up to RM100,000 but also for personal items like phones and belongings in the event of accidents.

The embedded protection is automatically provided to all delivery partners when they start their shifts, without any extra cost or effort required.

The Rider Appreciation Day event took place at the foodpanda office in Bangsar South and saw participation from over 50 top-performing foodpanda delivery partners and senior management.

This event is set to be replicated at four other rider hubs in Kuantan, Johor, Sabah, and Penang to include delivery partners from across the country in the celebrations.

During the Riders' Appreciation Day event, the PolicyStreet team offered a complimentary one-month coverage of foodpanda Protect+ to all top-performing delivery partners.

They also demonstrated the ease of making insurance claims through the Gig Workers' Claims Platform, which allows delivery partners and their families to monitor coverage and manage claims conveniently through a mobile-first platform.
