AIA Group appoints Fisher Zhang as new regional chief executive

He will oversee operations in China, South Korea, and Vietnam.

AIA Group Limited has appointed Fisher Zhang as its new regional chief executive, who will oversee operations in China, South Korea, and Vietnam. 

He will also join AIA Group Executive Committee and report to Lee Yuan Siong, the group's chief executive and president. AIA noted his appointment is still subject to regulatory approvals. 

Zhang has been with AIA since 2000, initially joining AIA China, where he became CEO in 2017. During his tenure, AIA became the first foreign company to establish a wholly-owned life insurance subsidiary in China. 

AIA China has expanded 10 geographies with new branches in Tianjin, Hebei, Sichuan, Hubei, and Henan. The company has also received regulatory approvals to establish branches in Anhui, Shandong, and Chongqing.
