A dedication to environmental initiatives

MCIS Life is progressing toward net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. A key initiative is the MCIS Life Legacy Forest, launched in 2023 at Sireh Park, Johor Bahru, where over 6,000 endemic rainforest trees were planted. As these trees mature, they are expected to offset around 567 tons of carbon by 2029, supporting biodiversity and carbon sequestration.

Governance and transparency are key to MCIS Life’s sustainability, with structures in place to ensure ethical conduct, compliance, and accountability, says Seebran.

The governance framework includes regular training to ensure employees understand their roles and uphold MCIS Life’s values. Seebran believes it is essential to empower staff with the knowledge to promote a culture of transparency, integrity, and accountability.

MCIS Life also upholds Fair Treatment of Financial Consumers (FTFC) practices, ensuring that all business operations and communications meet the highest ethical standards.

ESG at the core: Leading with purpose and responsibility

Seebran affirms MCIS Life’s commitment to investing in people through staff training and development initiatives as it empowers them to drive positive change.

Emphasising diversity and inclusion, MCIS Life fosters a respectful, high-performance culture.

Employee volunteering is encouraged to boost morale, job satisfaction, and purpose, whilst supporting social causes aligned with the company’s values.

The company further reflects its ESG commitment through inclusive products. SME Care+, launched in 2023, addresses the protection gap for small business owners with customisable coverage and guaranteed rates.

MCIS Life also offers modular protection, a flexible insurance solution that lets organisations customise coverage, including death, total, and permanent disability, critical illness, retrenchment, and hospital income, ensuring cost-effective protection.

Additionally, MCIS Life upholds responsible investing by limiting non-ESG investments to 10% and aligning its portfolio with evolving ESG standards to support long-term environmental and social goals.

Initiating change for a better tomorrow

Community engagement is central to MCIS Life's sustainability strategy, with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives focussed on giving back and fostering collaboration. Seebran highlights the importance of giving back to the communities and the power of collaboration. Through partnerships with stakeholders, MCIS Life aims to tackle common challenges and foster impactful changes within society.

Last year, the company initiated a tree planting programme in conjunction with Municipal Council of Petaling Jaya (MBPJ)’s Hari Terbuka Taman Jaya 2024, with 60 saplings planted at Taman Jaya Park.

A standout initiative is the MCIS Life Purple Truck, developed with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). Launched in 2022, the mobile unit offers free cancer screenings, health consultations, and educational outreach in underserved areas. The truck uses solar power and features wheelchair accessibility, reinforcing inclusivity and sustainability. To date, it has completed over 21,000 screenings across Malaysia.
