The Motor Vehicle Insurance and Repair Industry (MVIRI) Code of Conduct Committee (CAC) has made significant progress in response to the independent review by Dr. Michael Schaper.
The CAC, chaired by Stephen Jenkins, has finalised a brief for rewriting the code and sought legal advice on governance options from external parties, with feedback expected in early 2024.
The committee aims to simplify and legally strengthen the code based on Schaper's recommendations, including appointing an independent chair and deputy chair, and clarifying governance and voting procedures.

Since receiving the final report in May 2023, the committee has been actively addressing the 15 recommendations provided by Schaper, who conducted an independent review in response to concerns about dispute resolution, awareness, compliance, governance, and other pertinent issues.
The MVIRI Code of Conduct, established in 2006, undergoes periodic reviews, with the latest in 2017, to ensure its continued effectiveness.
