Hong Kong insurance regulator warns public against phishing scams
There have been reported cases of fraudsters using the name of Sun Life Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Insurance Authority (IA) is warning the public against phishing scams pretending to be from official insurance firms.
The IA is particularly warning the public to be on alert from fraudsters using the name of Sun Life Hong Kong limited who are soliciting customers to purchase intellectual property insurance which is not within the scope of Sun Life’s business. Sun Life has already confirmed with the IA that it has no connection with such promotion of activities.
“Anyone who has provided personal information to the fraudsters or has conducted any insurance transactions through the fraudsters should contact Sun Life at 2103-8928 and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force,” IA said.
