Tokio Marine dR adopts Fathom data for disaster prep

Tokio Marine dR has selected Fathom, a flood risk intelligence company, to provide global flood data.
The insurer said this decision aims to boost its natural disaster mitigation products and services offering
Tokio Marine dR will access Fathom’s global flood data through its API software, allowing instant retrieval of spatial data for specific points, areas, or portfolios.
Users can select multiple layers to assess different flood risks (fluvial, pluvial, or coastal) under various climate scenarios.

The Property Risk Engineering Department at Tokio Marine dR aims to assess flood risk from a climate change perspective, assisting Japanese companies in improving their management practices and increasing business resilience.
Tokio Marine dR, a subsidiary of TMHD, represents Fathom’s first contract with a Japanese-based organisation. Dr. Andrew Smith has previously lectured at the University of Tokyo, indicating Fathom's prior engagement in Japan.
