
Vietnam city exceeds 2024 targets with 95.25% coverage
Hanoi saw 8,169,748 individuals covered with health insurance last year.
Hanoi Social Security Office met and exceeded its 2024 targets, with health insurance coverage reaching 95.25% of its population.
This meant that 8,169,748 individuals were covered last year, a 2.3% year-on-year (YoY) increase.
The office coordinated with city authorities to implement social and health insurance policies, supported by two resolutions from the City People's Council and 19 directives from the City People's Committee.
Unemployment insurance participation rose to 2,100,671 people, up by 110,444 (5.55%), covering 44.9% of the working-age labor force and exceeding the target by 4.9%.
The office collected $2.8b (VND70.6t) from social, health, and unemployment insurance, a 14.8% increase from 2023, reaching 105% of the assigned target.
The late payment rate decreased to 2.08%, down 0.26% from the previous year.
A total of 638,982 cases of social and unemployment insurance benefits were processed, with payments exceeding $359,619,000 (VND9,221b).
Lump-sum social insurance payments were granted to 40,323 individuals, a 3.66% decrease from 2023.
Pension and monthly social insurance payments were disbursed to 596,000 beneficiaries, totaling $1.8b (VND45.1t), with 99.04% made via personal bank accounts.
Health insurance-covered medical expenses reached $989,679,405 (VND25,376.395b), including $264,298,242 (VND6.8t) for outpatient care and $725,381,163 (VND18,599.517b) for inpatient treatment.
The office conducted 5,041 inspections, recovering $19,500,000 (VND500b) in late payments and reclaiming $33,994.20 (VND871.8m) in improper benefit disbursements.
Hanoi continued its push for administrative reforms and digital transformation, with over 4.18 million people using the VssID digital insurance application. More than 14 million online applications were processed.
